The Black Cultural Society of Prince Edward Island (BCSPEI) is seeking a communications
Consultant for a three-week engagement from August to September 2026 to support the
organization’s communications and digital presence.

Duration: Three weeks (August–September 2026)
Hourly Rate: $20 CAD/hour
Total Hours: 10 hours (approximately 3.3 hours per week)
Engagement Type: Short-term consultancy

Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
• Developing and implementing a communications and social media content plan for the
engagement period.
• Managing BCSPEI’s social media platforms and maintaining consistent and engaging
content.
• Creating and scheduling content highlighting BCSPEI’s programs, events, community
initiatives, and organizational activities.
• Developing promotional and communications materials for priority campaigns and
community engagement activities.
• Drafting and editing communications materials, including announcements, community
notices, media releases, newsletters, and website content, as required.
• Ensuring consistency in BCSPEI’s messaging, tone, branding, and overall
communications.
• Supporting timely communications before, during, and following key BCSPEI activities.
• Monitoring digital engagement and identifying communications requiring organizational
attention.
• Maintaining organized communications files and providing a brief handover at the end of
the engagement.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal consultant will have:
• Experience in communications, social media management, digital marketing, public
relations, or a related area.
• Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
• Experience creating engaging social media content.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently within short timelines.
• An understanding of culturally responsive and inclusive communications.
• Black-identifying individual; familiarity with Black communities, community-based
organizations, equity work, and/or the PEI context is an asset.
